New Student Room Process for the 2010-2011 Academic Year
SELECT YOUR OWN ROOM
WVU Tech is now working hand in hand with the WVU Office of Housing and University Apartments. The on line Housing Management System (HMS) will be used by all students this year. HMS is designed to be a user friendly housing tool in which students select their own building and room and even create a personal profile for selection of a roommate.
This will be a 2 step process. First, you must apply for housing and pay your $150 housing deposit through STAR. The date that you complete the application process will determine when the HMS priority period will open for you. The earlier that you apply, the earlier that you can choose a room. This is the second step. An email will be sent directly to your MIX account from HMS informing you of your priority period for room selection.

Once your opening date has passed you will be allowed to use HMS at any time after that. By March 8, everyone will be allowed to choose a room within 24 hours after applying. This link will take you to HMS. You will use your MIX User ID and password to login, select from the available rooms, post your profile, and invite a roommate . . . it’s that simple!
Housing applications made after June 30, 2010 will not be able to use the HMS system. Assignments will be made by the Residence Life Office. Roommate requests will be very difficult to honor at that late date so apply early and use the HMS system.
All room assignment information made through HMS will be delivered electronically by email to your MIX account. You will be able to view your room assignment and roommate information in STAR. Just follow the Housing link to view your room assignment or roommate information.
