WVU Tech is now working hand in hand with the WVU Office of Housing and University Apartments. The on line Housing Management System (HMS) will be used by all students this year. HMS is designed to be a user friendly housing tool in which students select their own building and room and even create a personal profile for selection of a roommate.
This will be a 2 step process.
Step 1 – You must apply for housing and pay your $150 housing deposit through STAR. The date that you complete the application process will determine when the HMS priority period will open for you.
HMS WILL CLOSE ON JUNE 30, 2010. THE RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE WILL MAKE ASSIGNMENTS AFTER THAT DATE.
Step 2 – After March 8, the priority period will start 24 hours after you apply. You will receive an email on your MIX account explaining how to choose a room and the link to HMS. This link will take you to HMS. You will use your MIX User ID and password to login, select from the available rooms, post your profile, and invite a roommate . . . it’s that simple!
Housing applications made after June 30, 2010 will NOT be able to use the HMS system. Assignments will be made by the Residence Life Office. Roommate requests will be very difficult to honor at that late date so apply early and use the HMS system.
All room assignment information made through HMS will be delivered electronically by email to your MIX account. You will be able to view your room assignment and roommate information in STAR. Just follow the Housing link to view your room assignment or roommate information.
If you decide to change rooms, you just need to log back in to the HMS system and choose another room. This option will also stop after June 30.
