Welcome to On-Campus Housing
Room Consolidation/Room Change Process
Room consolidation refers to a partially vacated room where a student is the sole occupant in a double room and does not have a guaranteed single. If an individual finds themselves in such a room they have one of three options:
- Find a new roommate. The Campus Life (322 Old Main) can provide a list of students who are in similar rooms.
- You may be reassigned a new room or roommate anytime after February 3, 2012.
- Buy out their space and keep the room as a single.
Students who do not respond to the written notification will, at the discretion of the Campus Life office, either be:
- Reassigned a different room on the floor that they live, or
- Assigned a new roommate.
Paperwork for room consolidation can be downloaded or 322 Old Main.
For individuals who just want to change rooms, room change paper work can be obtained here or picked up from 322 Old Main.
Who Should Live In Campus Housing
All single first and second year students with fewer than 59 credit hours (including transfer credits) are required to live in University housing. The following exceptions apply with verification:
- Students who will be residing with parent(s) within commuting distance (50-mile radius of Montgomery)
- Married students
- Students with children
- Students 21 years of age or older
Nationwide, students that live on campus connect better to their college and make higher GPAs than those students that commute from home or live off campus. In addition to your GPA being higher students that choose to live on campus also have better more diverse social circles. Make the most of your time in college, and live in one of our wonderful Residence Halls.
Commuter Students
If you qualify and wish to commute, the residence life office needs to know this. Please click on the Housing Contracts link at the left and follow the steps to apply for housing. You will be able to click on a commuter check box before you get to the actual application. That will be all that you need to do. Even as a commuting student, you are welcome to stop by the residence life office and we will help you, if we can.

Students With Disabilities
The staff of WVU Tech believe strongly in making a college education available to everyone. The WVU Office of Disability Services maintains an office on the WVU Tech campus, as well as, the main campus. They will work with those students that may need some help.
